Welcome to Sycamore Class!

Welcome to Sycamore Class! We are a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 class who enjoy learning together, supporting one another and celebrating each other’s successes.

Our class teacher is Mrs John, who teaches Sycamore Class each morning. In the afternoons, we join with Mr Boyle and the Year 5 and 6 children for our afternoon learning.

We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with opportunities to learn, explore, be creative and develop our independence. We have lots of exciting learning planned and look forward to sharing our experiences and achievements with you throughout the year.

Key Information

Reading Books – Reading books and reading records should be brought into school every day.

We strongly encourage children to read regularly at home. Every time a reading record is signed by a parent or carer to show that reading has taken place at home, your child will receive 5 house points.

Children who read consistently at home will also have the opportunity to win our Home Reader of the Term Award, which is presented in assembly. Winners will have a prize pot to choose from as a reward for their fantastic commitment to reading.

TT Rockstars & Times Tables – Regular times-table practice is really important, particularly for our Year 4 children who will take the 'Multiplication Tables Check' later in the year. Developing quick and accurate recall of multiplication facts will also support children in many areas of their maths learning.

TT Rockstars logins are stuck inside the children’s reading records. We encourage children to practise for around 5 minutes each day, using Garage or Studio mode. Little and often is the best way to build confidence and fluency!
