Friends of Westbury School

'The Friends' are our school Parent, Teacher and Friends Association.  Our aim is to enhance the education of pupils at Westbury-on-Severn CE primary school through provision of activities, facilities or equipment and to develop effective relationships between the staff, parents and carers associated with the school.

We organise a number of events throughout the school year in order to raise funds and achieve this aim.

Every parent/carer automatically becomes a member of the friends community when their child starts at the school.  All contributions to our efforts, large or small, are fully appreciated.  The Friends central committee is made up of a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary supported by core members.  Everyone who wishes to participate in our work will receive a warm welcome from the Friends.

The current team are:
Chair - Helen Cracknell
Treasurer - Kerry Jones
Co-Treasurer - Anita Coe
Secretary - Lou Freed
Member - Nicky Keidel-Doggrell
Member - Jen Sigournay (Chair of Governors)

We are supported by the teaching staff and headteacher.

This year our primary funding goal is towards supporting the OPAL play project which we are very excited about.  We are looking forward to helping fund this amazing opportunity to give our children the best possible experience at their play times and extend their wider education in this all too forgotten time where they can gain valuable life skills.

Our recent projects have included:

A large, colourful mural in the school playground depicting the River Severn, house animals, class trees and wildlife of our area.  All the children in the school participated in this project and helped bring the mural to life.

Refurbishment of the Forest School Area - including the construction of a large shelter, storage shed, outdoor kitchen, tree trunk seating, Ground clearance and much more!

Significant contribution towards the costs of coach hire for each class trip making this an affordable and viable experience for all children to enjoy.

The Annual Christmas Craft Fair - a wonderful experience for all the children and the wider community.  Many of the students get involved with running games and entertainment at the fair as well as visiting the grotto and enjoying visiting the craft stalls of local makers.  Many of our teachers have a stall and sell their creative wares.

Leaver's meal and hoodies for our Yr 6 children at the end of term - a school tradition that is cherished by all and provides lasting memories of their Westbury family as they move on to future endeavors.

Westbury's Got Talent - our bi annual talent show where the children REALLY shine!
