Welcome to our weekly wellbeing page. Each Friday we will post something on this page to help with our wellbeing. It may be an activity to try, some mindfulness colouring to print or something to think about.

8th April
This week I've attached the 52 Lives School of Kindness Easter Challenge. This is a great way of encouraging us to be kind to others and ourselves. 
If your child wants to enter the competition they can bring their completed forms into school on 26th April and I will send them all off together.
1st April
This week we are going to look at the last of the 5 ways to wellbeing - Take Notice.
Taking notice of the things around us and focusing on what is happening here and now can really help our wellbeing. Sometimes called grounding or mindfulness, this technique using each of our senses to notice things around us can help relieve anxiety and help us feel more positive.
With spring and the lighter days upon us this is an ideal time to take notice of things around us. Why not take a walk round your garden and spot what is growing? Or venture into the forest? 
4th March
Many of us are feeling worried and anxious due to the recent conflict between Russia and the Ukraine. When such events are flooding our social media and news feeds it can be difficult to make sense of it and we may become overwhelmed. 
This week our wellbeing message is to be kind to yourself. Below is a poster about what we can control and what is beyond our control. It is ok to turn off the news and take some time out.
If you are concerned about how to explain these events to your child, or how to alleviate their fears, BBC's Newsround website has several pages giving clear child friendly information and also advice on how to spot fake news and what children can do if they are worried or upset by the news. There is a link to their site below.
This week I thought we'd look at the fourth of the 5 ways to wellbeing - giving to others. 
This links in very well to what our Kindness Club have been looking at this week. It is Random Act of Kindness Week next week. Being kind is a great way to give to others. It doesn't need to be a big act, just giving someone a smile, sharing a game, calling a friend or tidying for someone in your house can make both you and them feel better about themselves.

4th February - 5 Ways to Wellbeing - Keep Learning

This week we are continuing to think about the five ways of wellbeing and in particular, learning something new.

Sometimes we feel unmotivated or unable to try new things, or worried that if we start learning something new, we might not be very good at it. But other times, we also all need to have fun, take a break, or find a nice distraction from everything that is going on around us.

Researchers found that learning new skills makes us happier and healthier by helping to:

  • Improve our self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Give us sense of purpose
  • Connect us with other people

So, by challenging ourselves to learn new things (even if we might not be very good at them at first), we actually feel better about ourselves, and discover activities which help us overcome the boredom or loneliness that ‘social distancing’ can bring.

What new thing can you learn this week? Is it something you are going to do on your own or will it be a chance for your family to learn something new together?

This week I've found a video for the second of the five ways of wellbeing - be active.
Keeping active is beneficial to both our physical and mental health and wellbeing. Whether it's taking a walk or dancing to a favourite song on the radio while cooking dinner every activity can give us a boost. This week see how many different ways you can be active.
This week I thought we'd focus on one of the 5 ways to Wellbeing - connect.
Connecting with others helps us to feel like we belong, it helps raise our self esteem and makes us feel happier. Not only that but the people we connect with feel all these benefits too!
