Severn and Wye Smokery Opening

6th July 2018
On Friday all the pupils and staff from Westbury were invited to join Richard Cook, his staff and Walmore Hill School for the official opening of The Barn, the new shop, cafe and resturant at Severn and Wye Smokery. The whole school went by coach to see the Duke of Gloucester open the new building with the children lining the entrance and waving flags.
A few children from Class Three were selected to be in the restaurant itself to present the work that they had completed about eels as part of the Eels in School campaign led by the smokery. Two eight foot by four foot display boards had been set up to showcase the textiles and poetry the class had completed and the children had the opportunity to to talk to various dignitaries about their work and caring for the eels in school. Many of the visitors were very complimentary of the poems on display.
The display boards are going to be up in the entrance of the smokery throughout the summer for visitors to see.
Westbury School is proud to be part of the Eels in School campaign and of their close link with this local company. Thank you to all at Severn and Wye Smokery for making us all so welcome on Friday.
