Our School Community
At Westbury school we often refer to our 'Westbury Family'. We believe that all those connected with our school are valued and endeavour to be there for them all. We are supported in this by our Governing Body and also by our PTA 'Friends of Westbury' who work very hard to provide additional opportunites for our children.
As a Church of England School work in partnership with our parish church, Church of St Mary, St Peter And St Paul. We often visit the church as part of our learning and for celebrations and festivals throughout the year. In addition our children help set up and lead 'Experience' sessions in the church at Easter and Christmas for both our children and the wider community.
We pride ourselves on our links with the wider community. The local playgroup, Bright Horizons, uses a dedicated area of our school for two sessions a week and often joins the rest of the school at events such as Remembrance Day, sports Day and performances. They work closely with our EYFS team and join with them for some learning activities throughout the year and particularly in the summer when children make the transition from playgroup to school.
The school holds a variety of events at the village hall which are open to the wider community. These include our annual school production and Christmas Fair.
The school also has close links with the local nursing home, Westbury Court, and the children enjoy visiting to share songs, poems and productions with them.
As part of our wider community Westbury School is also part of NEWMATCH and WGSP partnerships. These groups offer support to staff and opportunities for collaboration with other schools.
