Bikeability

15th April 2016
Chidren in year 5 and 6 have been taking part in Bikeability this week. They have learned about vital safety checks they should make on their bikes before they ride them and protective and relective items they can wear to keep them safe. They have also discussed general rules of the road and looked at road signs and what they mean.

They have learned valuable skills such as 'peddle ready' the posisiton to be in to best begin a road ride. They have learned about being aware of what is going on around them, checking over their right shoulder before any manouver, signalling, turning left and right, overtaking and doing a 'U' turn.

The children have had the opportunity to practise these skills on the playground and on the roads around school. They have all enjoyed their learning and have shown increased confidence in their road skills.

Westbury would like to thank Martin, Anne and Rachel for giving up their time to deliver the Bikeability sessions.
